On June 25, the 147th and 148th sessions of the World Customs Organization (WCO) Council commenced at the WCO headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by the Chairman of the State Customs Service, is participating in the event. This was reported on the official website of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
The agenda of the current sessions covers a wide range of strategic issues.
The participation of Turkmenistan's delegation in this high-level forum demonstrates the country's commitment to further integrating into the international customs system, modernizing border infrastructure in line with international standards, and strengthening trade and economic cooperation within the framework of the WCO.
The highlight of the Turkmen delegation's visit is a scheduled bilateral meeting between the Chairman of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, Ian Saunders. The meeting is expected to address key cooperation matters, including the digitalization of customs procedures, the implementation of leading global customs standards, and the professional development of local specialists.
The event will run until June 27.
