Our country advances initiatives aimed at effectively utilizing the economic potential of the Caspian region and developing relations in transport and logistics, energy, industry, and trade. The signing of the Convention on the Legal Status of the Caspian Sea by the littoral states on August 12, 2018, in Aktau, Kazakhstan, marked an important event. The First Caspian Economic Forum, held on August 12, 2019, in the "Avaza" National Tourist Zone at the initiative of Turkmenistan, opened new opportunities for advancing trade and economic relations among the Caspian littoral states. Future possibilities for cooperation in transport, energy, investment, innovation, and other areas were discussed at the forum. The Sixth Caspian Summit, held on June 29, 2022, in Ashgabat, provided momentum to the expansion of cooperation among Caspian nations. Turkmenistan also consistently enhances the significance of the Caspian Sea in the international transport system. The modern capabilities of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport contribute to our country becoming one of the crucial transport and logistics hubs between Europe and Asia. It makes a significant contribution to expanding trade and economic relations among regional states and developing international transport corridors.
Since the entry into force of the Framework Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the Caspian Sea, Caspian Sea Day has been widely celebrated in our country every year on August 12.
