Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation Renew Strategic Cooperation in Maritime Shipping

On April 15, an official meeting was held in Saint Petersburg between the delegation of Turkmenistan and the leadership of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS). The discussions focused on a new agreement regarding the delegation of authority to the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping to conduct surveys of vessels flying the State Flag of Turkmenistan for compliance with international convention requirements.

During the negotiations, the parties highlighted the efficiency of bilateral relations maintained since 2012 and discussed future areas of cooperation, including the implementation of digital technologies and the expansion of technical consultancy services. Furthermore, views were exchanged on aligning maritime education with international standards (STCW), the certification of specialists, and the possibility of establishing a modern maritime training center in Turkmenistan. The outcome of the meeting serves as a significant step toward ensuring maritime safety and elevating mutually beneficial relations between the sector-specific authorities of the two nations to a new level.
