Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Italy, Toyly Komekov, held a meeting in Rome on Wednesday with Edmondo Cirielli, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, to discuss upcoming high-level bilateral visits.
According to a social media post by Deputy Minister Cirielli, the meeting focused primarily on expanding economic cooperation in the energy sector and developing transport corridors between the two countries.
Cirielli noted that the talks build upon Italy’s continued engagement following the inaugural Central Asia–Italy Summit, held on May 30, 2025, in Astana, Kazakhstan.
According to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, total trade turnover between Turkmenistan and Italy reached approximately €33 million in the period from January to April 2025. Italian exports accounted for €32 million, while imports of Turkmen goods totaled around €1.5 million during the same period.
