On February 12, 2023, the “Iranian Maritime Economy” forum was held in Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, in which representatives of the «Turkmendenizderyayollary» agency took part at the invitation from the Iranian side.
The forum was attended by representatives of transport companies, government agencies and business groups of Iran. During the forum, issues related to the development of international trade and transport links between the countries of the region in the North-South and West-East corridors were discussed and there were speeches on cooperation in this area.
In particular, three traffic routes were identified, namely:
- Europe - Russia - Azerbaijan - Iran - India;
- Russia – Kazakhstan – Turkmenistan – Iran – India;
- Russia - Iran - India transport corridors.
Also within the framework of the forum, meetings were held with representatives of the Port and Maritime Organization of Iran, where the sea port system of Turkmenistan, the national merchant fleet and shipbuilding capabilities were widely represented. In order to further expand cooperation, ideas were put forward about the capacities and possibilities of providing benefits to other foreign companies in the northern ports of Iran (Anzali, Amirabad, Nushehir and others).
Separate round table talks were also held with M.B. Akdam is the chief advisor of the Bekhine Tarabar Azhur company. A representative of the company introduced the services of container transportation across the Caspian Sea and cargo transportation on the Amirabad-Baku route. In this regard, he expressed a desire to establish close cooperation in the future.
The forum will end on February 13. On February 14, the Turkmen delegation will visit the port of Amirabad.
