The next round of political consultations between the foreign ministries of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in Ashgabat, led by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov and Bakhtiyor Saidov. During the talks, the parties discussed strengthening bilateral strategic partnership and intensifying political-diplomatic relations, as well as interparliamentary and interregional ties.
They also agreed on mutual support within international organizations such as the UN, CIS, and ECO, diversifying trade and economic relations, creating new transport and transit corridors, and deepening cooperation in industrial, energy, cultural, and humanitarian fields. Following the political consultations, the parties signed an intergovernmental Agreement on cooperation in the field of ensuring international information security and the Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2027–2028.
