The new amendments and additions introduced to Article 12 of the Law of Turkmenistan "On Migration" have fundamentally enhanced the procedures for registering foreign citizens and stateless persons within the country. According to the new edition, all migration processes, including registration, de-registration, and extension of stay, have been fully transitioned to a digital format and are managed through the integrated information system of the State Migration Service.
The scope of legal representatives authorized to register minor children has been expanded, and the legal framework for such actions has been further clarified. Additionally, conditions for registration regarding the replacement of passports or changes in the place of residence of foreign citizens have been established. The processing time for document extensions is set at three working days.
For drivers engaged in international transport, the maximum duration of stay has been increased to 15 calendar days, while transit passengers are permitted to stay for up to five days without additional registration. Furthermore, exemptions from registration at the place of stay have been provided for officials of international organizations and their family members. These updates are aimed at modernizing migration services and improving the overall efficiency of administrative accounting procedures in the country.
