Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan strengthen logistics cooperation through Caspian Sea ports

An international scientific and practical symposium titled "Multifaceted Cooperation of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan: Achievements and Prospects" was held on June 18, 2025. It was jointly organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Center of Analysis of International Relations of Azerbaijan, marking "2025 – International Year of Peace and Trust" and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality.

Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan attach special importance to using the ports of Baku, Alat, and Turkmenbashi to strengthen transport and logistics cooperation, stated the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan at the opening of the forum in Baku. This was reported by "Report.az."

Speaking at the event, the diplomat emphasized that relations between the two states, based on common historical values, are demonstrating progressive development. "On June 9, we celebrated 33 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations. Today, bilateral ties continue to strengthen under the leadership of the heads of state and on the basis of a strategic partnership agreement," the diplomat noted.

The Deputy Minister also highlighted the significance of the Caspian Sea as a key link uniting Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan in the absence of a common land border.

In 2024, significant growth was achieved in mutual trade between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, with its volume reaching high levels.
